Dr. Patricia Sims

President of Drake State Community & Technical College

Dr. Patricia G. Sims was named the fourth president of Drake State Community & Technical College in December 2018 by the Alabama Community College System (ACCS) Board of Trustees. Under her leadership, Drake State is transitioning to become the premier training destination for businesses in greater Huntsville.  Previously she served as Dean for the College of Education at Athens State University, an administrator for the ACCS and as a teacher and principal in Huntsville City Schools.  Active in a variety of civic, state and educational organizations, Dr. Sims  currently serves on the Board of Trustees for the Southern Associations Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), Board of Trustees for the Alabama Articulation and General Education Committee (AGSC), Leadership Huntsville-Madison County, Women’s Economic Development Council (WEDC), Burritt on the Mountain Advisory Board, Burritt Memorial Committee and the Alabama Forever Wild (AFW) Board of Trustees. She is a member of the Huntsville Rotary Club and the Huntsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  Another important aspect of her life is family—her husband Mike, daughter Kirsten, and her Union Chapel Missionary Baptist Church family.
